Functional Nutrition Lab Testing & Interpretation

Functional nutrition laboratory tests offer valuable insights into an individual’s overall health, aiding in the identification of underlying imbalances or deficiencies that may contribute to various health conditions, including chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or autoimmune conditions. By addressing these imbalances proactively, individuals can potentially prevent or effectively manage these conditions. Based on the test results, a personalized plan can be developed to address any nutrient deficiencies or imbalances. This may involve recommending specific foods, dietary modifications, and supplements to optimize nutritional status and support overall health. We provide three specific tests: NutrEval, GI Map, and Food Sensitivities.

The NutrEval Test

Comprehensively analyzes an individual’s nutritional status, assessing various aspects of metabolism, including digestion, absorption, cellular energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter balance, and oxidative stress. The test offers several benefits, including the detection of nutrient deficiencies, evaluation of amino acid profiles, assessment of oxidative stress markers, identification of detoxification capacity, and insights into neurotransmitter balance.

  • Identification of Nutrient deficiencies: detects deficiencies in essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and antioxidants.
  • Evaluation of Amino Acid Profile: measures amino acid levels, which are essential for protein synthesis, neurotransmitter production, and overall cellular function.
  • Assessment of Oxidative Stress: evaluates markers of oxidative stress, such as lipid peroxides and antioxidants. Oxidative stress can contribute to chronic inflammation and various health conditions.
  • Identification of Detoxification Capacity: assesses liver function and detoxification capacity. Provides insights into your body’s ability to eliminate toxins and identify any impairments in detoxification pathways.
  • Insight into Neurotransmitter Balance: measures various metabolites related to neurotransmitter production and balance. Imbalances in neurotransmitters can contribute to mood disorders, cognitive issues, and other neurological symptoms.

GI-Map

The GI-MAP (Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus) test is a stool analysis that provides detailed information about the microbial composition and function of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Provides a comprehensive analysis of the gut microbiome, assessing the presence of various bacteria, parasites, fungi, and viruses. It also evaluates markers related to inflammation, digestion, and gut health.

  • Gut Health Optimization: by identifying imbalances and addressing them through targeted interventions, the GI-Map test helps optimize gut health. A healthy gut microbiome is associated with improved digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function, and overall wellbeing.

Food Sensitivity Lab test

Designed to identify specific foods or ingredients that may be causing adverse reactions or sensitivities in an individual's body.

  • Identifying Trigger Foods: can help identify specific foods or food groups that may be causing adverse reactions in your body. These reactions may manifest as digestive issues, skin problems, headaches, fatigue, joint pain, or other symptoms. By identifying the trigger foods, you can eliminate or minimize their consumption, potentially reducing symptoms and improving overall wellbeing.
  • Support Gut Health: food sensitivities can be linked to leaky gut syndrome or imbalances in the gut microbiome. By identifying and eliminating trigger foods, you can reduce gut inflammation and promote healing of the gut lining, leading to improved digestive health.
  • Potential Weight Management Support: in some cases, undiagnosed food sensitivities can contribute to weight management challenges or difficulty in losing weight. By identifying and removing trigger foods from your diet, you may experience improved digestion, reduced inflammation, and better metabolic function, which can aid in weight management efforts.
